International Intervention and Crisis Coordination

Helping Families Navigate Crisis Across Borders

Organization of Recovery & Crisis Advisors (ORCA) provides international interventions and crisis coordination when a loved one is in an addiction or mental health crisis outside the United States, or when a family abroad needs a team on the ground inside it. We coordinate with embassies and consulates, local hospitals, attorneys, and treatment programs, travel to the person, and provide escorted transport home or to care.

Cases are often complicated by visa problems, language barriers, or local legal trouble. We handle those alongside the intervention itself.

When Addiction or Mental Health Crisis Crosses Borders, We Bring Families Back Together

When a loved one is facing a crisis overseas, it can feel overwhelming and impossible to navigate. Whether they're dealing with addiction, a mental health breakdown, or legal challenges like a revoked visa, families often don't know where to turn.

At ORCA, we specialize in International Interventions, helping families bring their loved ones home or find the right treatment, no matter where they are in the world.

When a loved one is struggling with addiction or a mental health crisis abroad, families face unique challenges: legal barriers, language and cultural barriers, logistical hurdles, and emotional and safety concerns. Without the right support, many families feel stuck, unable to intervene and unsure of how to help.

Our experienced interventionists step in where families feel powerless, working directly with embassies, legal teams, and treatment centers to bring your loved one home or secure the care they need, no matter where they are.

Questions Families Ask

Any case where the person in crisis and the family are in different countries, or where a foreign national is in crisis inside the United States. Examples include a student or expatriate using drugs or spiraling mentally abroad, a family member detained or hospitalized overseas, someone who has cut contact from another country, or a situation complicated by a revoked visa or local legal trouble.
We assess the situation remotely with the family, coordinate with the relevant embassy or consulate, local hospitals, attorneys, and treatment programs, and then travel to the person. Depending on the case, we lead an intervention on site, arrange escorted transport home or to a treatment program, and manage the handoff into care.
An adult cannot be removed from a country against their will. What we can do is change the choice in front of them: a prepared family, a clear offer, a resolved legal or visa complication, and a plan for the moment they agree. Most international cases resolve because the person is offered a way out of a situation that has become frightening to them too.
The initial assessment happens on the first call. Travel depends on the destination and paperwork, and we begin coordinating with local contacts while the logistics are arranged so no time is lost. Call 917-979-8726 at any hour; international cases are often time-sensitive.
Yes. Families abroad with a loved one in crisis in the United States use ORCA to be their team on the ground: locating the person, coordinating with hospitals or law enforcement, leading the intervention, and placing them in treatment.
