Addiction Intervention Services for Families

Helping Families Take Action Before It's Too Late

Organization of Recovery & Crisis Advisors (ORCA) provides addiction interventions for families whose loved one is using alcohol, opioids, stimulants, benzodiazepines, or several substances and will not accept treatment. A board certified interventionist prepares the family, leads the meeting, and coordinates placement at a program matched to the substance and the level of care needed.

Waiting for rock bottom is not a strategy. Of the 48.5 million Americans who met criteria for a substance use disorder in 2023, only 15.6% received treatment, and over 95% of those untreated did not believe they had a problem.

Substances
Alcohol, opioids including fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine, benzodiazepines, prescription misuse, high-potency cannabis, and polysubstance use.
Approach
Invitational and family-centered. In a randomized trial the CRAFT family approach engaged 64% of treatment-refusing individuals, versus 30% for confrontation.
What happens if they say yes
They leave for treatment that day, escorted by an ORCA team member, with the placement already arranged.

Addiction is a Disease. Waiting Won't Fix It.

If your loved one is struggling with addiction, chances are you've already spent countless nights worrying, countless conversations pleading, and countless attempts trying to help, only to watch them continue down a destructive path.

Families often feel stuck between not wanting to push them away and knowing that something has to change. You don't have to wait for rock bottom. You don't have to do this alone.

At ORCA, we specialize in addiction interventions, helping families take back control, break the cycle of denial, and guide their loved ones into treatment before it's too late.

What Makes ORCA's Addiction Interventions Different?

Expert-Led, Compassion-Driven Approach

Interventions aren't about confrontation. They're about presenting a clear, structured path toward recovery in a way that encourages acceptance.

Customized Strategies for Every Family

No two people are the same. Our interventions are tailored to your loved one's addiction history, mental health concerns, personality, and family dynamics.

Prearranged Treatment and Immediate Admission

We don't just have a conversation and hope for the best. Before the intervention, we arrange treatment placement, transportation, and logistics, ensuring that your loved one can start their recovery journey immediately.

Family Coaching and Support

Addiction doesn't just affect the individual, it impacts the entire family. We provide structured guidance so that families know how to set boundaries, stop enabling, and create an environment that supports long-term recovery.

Ongoing Case Management and Aftercare

Recovery doesn't happen in a day. We stay involved to ensure your loved one follows through with their treatment plan and remains accountable during early recovery.

Questions Families Ask

More than you think. You cannot force an adult into treatment, but you can change what happens around them: stop protecting them from consequences, present a clear and prearranged path into care, and hold boundaries consistently. That is what a professional intervention organizes. In a randomized trial, the CRAFT family approach engaged 64% of people who had refused treatment, compared with 30% for confrontation. Waiting for rock bottom is the least effective option.
Alcohol, opioids including fentanyl, stimulants such as cocaine and methamphetamine, benzodiazepines, prescription misuse, high-potency cannabis, polysubstance use, and behavioral addictions such as gambling. The substance changes the medical plan, especially for alcohol and benzodiazepines where withdrawal can be dangerous, so we match the treatment placement to it.
No, and the surprise model has the weakest evidence. ORCA's approach is closest to the invitational ARISE model, in which the person knows the family is mobilizing and is asked to participate rather than ambushed. In a NIDA-funded trial, 83% of individuals engaged in treatment through that approach.
Treatment is arranged before the meeting, so if they agree, they leave for care that day, usually escorted by an ORCA team member. Motivation is fragile in the hours after someone says yes, and the plan is built so there is no gap in which to reconsider.
The first 90 days are the highest-risk window. Outcome research shows that treatment shorter than 90 days produces results close to no treatment at all, and that 40 to 60 percent of people relapse at some point, a rate comparable to other chronic illnesses. ORCA's case management and companionship services exist for this stretch: keeping the person engaged, coordinating step-downs, and preparing the family for the return home.
Intervention services are generally private-pay. Treatment programs themselves are often covered in part by insurance, and part of our case management work is verifying benefits and choosing placements the family can sustain. We discuss costs openly on the first free call.

Take the First Step Toward Recovery

If your loved one is caught in addiction, waiting for things to get worse is not the answer. The sooner an intervention happens, the better the outcome.
